The majority of products that fall within the electronics category have to be designed with aesthetics in mind. It is important that the ease and speed of assembly for such things as PCBs, cable glands, connectors etc. that make up the finished item, must be remembered.
As with the majority of plastic injection mouldings the choice of material is crucial; chemical resistance, texture and rugged environment are just a few of the many characteristics to be considered.
